Baby's First Massage Advanced Training
Baby's First Massage Hands on Certification Session — The Ultimate Learning experience with the opportunity for hands on learning at a location near you!
Register for the hands on certification session and you will receive the home study kit containing an instructor's manual, a VHS or DVD training video, The Loving Your Newborn: Intuitive Touch" video and 2 copies of the parent teaching booklet. Complete the posttest, training outline, one practice session using your doll and come to class.
At class I will review all the massage strokes with you, show you how much pressure to use, answer any questions about the posttest, and offer a real live demonstration class. I will also focuses on marketing techniques to help you successfully incorporate Baby's First Massage into your practice. Additionally, I share with you positive parenting skills such as interpreting crying and responding appropriately, how to comfort a baby, and when to wait to give massage. You will then have an opportunity to practice your teaching skills using your baby doll. Throughout the training, the message of how to communicate through touch is permeated with the love and valuing of life, the importance and joy of listening to babies, and how to approach this powerful but simple interaction with great respect.

Baby's FIrst Massage® Workshop at The Red Pines Training Center. This baby's First Massage all day workshop teaches you how to assist prenatal or newly-delivered families in massaging their newborns. After completing the course, you would be able to teach in small groups with babies and caregivers, or in large groups using role playing and hands-on practice with dolls.
You will learn to introduce caregivers and new parents to the concept and value of nurturing, systematic touch. While the program's primary focus is massaging the healthy newborn, techniques can be used for medically stable infants who have altered nervous systems from drug exposure, developmental difficulties, or birth trauma.

Baby's First Massage Advanced Training
Baby’s First Massage® presents a special 2 day Training primarily focused on learning to teach newborn massage to new families.
Sessions range from:
- Refresher course
- Becoming certified through the Home Study and hands on
- Preparation to become faculty for Baby’s First Massage®
- Prepare to become a Mentor and assist with NCBTMB requirements
This training provides you with all tools and skills to immediately include in your practice. It is your choice which options you want to participate in.
The focus of this training is on massage with the healthy newborn and also medically stable babies that experience neurological disorganization due to prematurity, drug exposure, or birth trauma.
Nurses, massage therapists and DONA doulas receive 27 contact hours at the end of Day 2, along with the Certified Newborn Massage Instructor.
Day 1: The Onsite Workshop - Prepare to earn your certification to teach new families the Baby’s First Massage technique.
Day 2 am: Hands on training to complete your Baby’s First Massage Certification requirements.
Day 2 pm: Learn advanced teaching skills and how to implement marketing strategies. 27 contact hours for NCBTMB, ONA & DONA.
Post Workshop: Listing on Baby’s First Massage website, licensing agreement, professional support.

Baby's First Massage® Continuing Education Provider Information
The Baby's First Massage® program offers continuing education contact hours through several organizations. The hours differ from group to group because of the unique way of counting time within the organization that reviews the course material. If you have completed any of the three workshop offers, (the onsite workshop, the independent study, the certification session) and are submitting your contact hours for license renewal, in general, use the approved provider number, the program number, and the correct continuing education hours assigned to that course. If you have lost your certificate and need a replacement, there is a $5 fee. Please contact teresa@babysfirstmassage.com to obtain your replacement records. All records are maintained in a secure place for 7 years.
Nursing contact hours:
This continuing nursing education activity was approved by the Ohio Nurses Association (OBN-001-91), an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.
Baby's First Massage Program onsite workshop has been approved for 9.0 contact hours of nursing continuing education, valid through May 18, 2010. Baby's First Massage Independent Study has been approved for 21.0 contact hours of nursing continuing education, valid through May 15, 2010. The Baby's First Massage Certification Session has been approved for 4.83 contact hours of continuing nursing education, valid through March 3, 2010.
Massage contact hours:
The various massage and bodywork professional organizations recognize continuing education that has been approved by the National Certification Board of Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB). Baby's First Massage® is an approved provider, valid through January 13, 2011. The Onsite workshop is approved for 11 contact hours, the Independent Study is approved for 22 contact hours, and the Certification Session is approved for 5.5 contact hours. The NCBTMB has announced that by January, 2011, there must be a supervised hands on component for all independent studies. The Baby's First Massage® Certification Session fulfills this completely.
Additional States/Approved Provider:
Arkansas: Approved Provider for the Onsite Workshop for 9.8 contact hours.
Florida: Approved Provider: The Onsite Workshop, program for 10 contact hours the Independent Study, program for 22 contact hours the Certification Session, for 5 contact hours. All Florida Licensed Massage Therapist will have their course completion entered into CE Broker by Baby's First Massage® staff.
Texas: Approved Provider: Onsite Workshop for 11 contact hours Certification Session for 5.5 contact hours. Texas does not acknowledge independent studies, but will acknowledge all hands on training. The NCBTMB does acknowledge all three venues for learning, and anyone that is nationally certified through the NCBTMB will receive the CE hours associated with what ever course they complete through Baby's First Massage®.
Ohio Physical Therapy Association (OPTA):
The Onsite Workshop is an approved program through OPTA for 9 contact hours, valid through January 1, 2009. The Independent Study is approved for 22 contact hours, valid through January 30, 2009 the Certification Session is approved for 4.5 contact hours, valid through March 14, 2009.
Ohio Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Athletic Trainers Board (OTPTAT):
Approved Provider Number: for the Onsite Workshop, for 9.5 contact hours, valid through February 6, 2010. The Certification Session is approved for 4.25 contact hours, valid through February 6, 2010, and the Independent Study, for 17.5 contact hours, valid through March 18, 2010.
